This program resulted in the turret sniper. ![]() In 1939, the OKW allegedly issued a directive to begin a sniper program. A small part of this was the limited issue of telescopic-equipped rifles, mostly left over from World War I. This was hugely expanded after the NSDAP came to power in 1933. Immediately after World War I ended, Germany began a clandestine system of rearmament called ‘Aufrüstung’, quietly flouting the restrictions placed on it by the Allies at Versailles in 1919. This scope was used by the Germans in WWII. The sniper scope can is made for the model Zf. The can bears two different markings, “ JVB” and a German Waffenamt to give it a more authentic WWII feeling to it. It holds the paint color of the Afrika Korps, and the paint has just some signs of wear to it.
